easyCBM provides tests for Benchmark measures and Progress Monitoring measures. Benchmark measures are typically administered to all students three times per year, whereas Progress Monitoring measures are typically administered to a subgroup of students during the course of an intervention.
Both sets of tests consist of multiple choice reading, vocabulary, and math questions administered to a group of students as well as reading fluency tests administered one-on-one. For the multiple choice tests, students record their answers using direct computer entry or on printed tests. (If the latter, the assessor must then transfer student scores manually into the system.) Fluency measures are administered one-on-one, with the assessor marking scores as the student reads aloud from letter, word, or passage text (with the exception of the phoneme fluency, where the student repeats sounds).
Important: Fluency examiners should score directly into a computer whenever possible to bypass having to copy from paper-and-pencil markings to computer data entry for each student. This has the added benefit of making data available for immediate analysis and reporting.
