DataGrader and the scanner work together to transfer data from student answer sheets into data that can be scored by Riverside.
● Student answer sheets provide the source of information to be scanned. The sheets must be in scannable condition in order for the information to be read correctly by the scanner.
● The scanner converts each student answer sheet into a separate digital image that it stores temporarily on the computer connected to it.
● DataGrader bundles the digital images into batches and uploads the batches to Riverside DataManager.
● If Riverside Scoring Service™ receives two different versions of an answer sheet for the same student in separate scanning sessions, the answer sheet in the last scanning session sent to scoring automatically overwrites the answer sheet sent in the previous scanning session.
1. Open DataGrader and log in. See Opening DataGrader and Logging In.
2. Check that the answer sheets are properly marked. See Checking Answer Sheets before Scanning.
3. Assemble the answer sheets into batches of up to 50 sheets. See Arranging Answer Sheets in Batches.
4. Load each batch of answer sheets into the scanner's feed tray and scan them.
5. Upload the batch to DataGrader. See Scanning and Uploading Answer Sheets.
